The Housewife

Love her, hate her. The House Wife! Lets see her lifestyle to see what she is exclusively devoted to; her family. For her she would likely have a choice that would go with her family liking. Wants to remain ever young. Seeing her daughter as a rival. At her heart the welfare of the family and thus would likely have the following to choose from:

1) Good economical family car like Fiat; Fuel is expensive this days, you know!

2) The weekly newspaper is her favourite buying; would read also the Metro, City; offered freely

3) Once in a while visit a restaurant with children; eat pizza and some pasta; other foods are not good for her stomach, thus…

4) Buy discounted households like cooking fats, utensils, electric equipments; ease her work

5) Makes sure the house has emergency kit for medicine just in case the son falls ill

6) Is there a good TV set? She will go for one. She knows all the soap operas, adverts too.

7) Transport she will take the Metro and the ATAC buses, even when going to the same holiday resorts she went last year. The seaside, beach. Why adventure somewhere she doesn’t know very well?

8) She will buy herself a radio to listen to news when the girl and the boy are fighting for the use of the TV for games. She does not need to miss the news of the day. Radio Vatican is her favorite. She likes to see the Holy Father blessings on Sunday.

9) She will visit the bookshop that all people buy from. Religious articles a favourite. The one she always bought her books when she was a girl and in high school; if she ever was there!

10) The house wife will dress to look young and attractive for her husband. Modern fashion will be part of her wardrobe. She will have a fight with her daughter if she took out the best of everything in the wardrobe.

Take a Safari with me...

Have you been on a Safari? Safari? Many will ask. Take a walk across the woods, a trip across the plains, into the forest and out into the plains. Like to see the wildlife in its reality? Marketing is the key word when I talk about the adventures one encounters when you take a Safari since then you see and understand why the Apple computers used the word for their web browser, Safari. Take a Safari with me and you will see why you should be studying Marketing.

Deep in the Great Rift Valley in Africa you find these sceneries that have tasted age and time. Feed the giraffes, give a banana to a monkey and if you won’t mind take a ride on the back of the Carmel. If you can’t stand the sight of a cheetah, then take off with the world best runners to escape them and land on the savannah fields where you will see the nature as it is; and, with all these you say there is no marketing in these plains? Have you just been wondering where I come from? Kenya. It’s the place to find the best of all these. My country, my all. You tell me!!! I emerged from this background and after all the studies that go with being a priest, six years ago I was ordained in Eldoret diocese.

Welcome to the world of Marketing since after this studies I hope to make the most of all the world. Thanks for the visit to my world of ideas.
I took a Safari last Friday in the afternoon; by now you know it’s a journey or trip, to an internet point that deals with; internet services, money exchange, Western Union money transfer and also telephone services. The shop is in a very central place in the sense that many people pass next to it in numbers and they can’t fail to see it. It has a big poster to show what they deal with, and my attention was drawn by the old European notes that were in circulation before the EU came into being. The poster reads, “Money Exchange”. From this poster then I was drawn into it and kept myself busy looking how people are coming and going. This shop is in Via conciliazione 41A, called Casa Del Turista.

From my vintage point first from outside, I could see people stopping to look at the old European notes and then talking about it. This couple came and talked about how beautiful looking the notes looked compared to what they have now. Their standing attracted another group of people and in a short time, a congregation was there. There were people of different age groups, ladies and gentlemen. At the door were 10 people of whom four went into the shop and they made me go in with them. Another sight opened for me, people calling and browsing the internet and some queuing up for services in money exchange. The people inside looked mostly foreigners since with money exchange I know that many either were exchanging money or sending money home. Then the positioning of the shop really was ideal. Some were not sure what to do and I found out that some were calling, since they saw others calling and were drawn into a transaction they really did not want to get into, but since almost everyone was doing something in that relation, then, they too found themselves doing the same.

The talking habits were all different since, I heard people talking in tongues that I never heard before and the expressions left me wondering what they could be emphasizing. Some, I thanked God that it was just a call, could have made an earthquake out of the phone call they were making. Mmhh…people can really express themselves! My Safari came to a halt when one of my colleagues came by and found me in this position, waiting also to make a call so that I too can make gestures like them, and at that point I could say I had spent 20 minutes. I went out smiling for I saw what I always assume; the buying behavior of people, the calling behaviour and the influence that we get from others. Where the Safari took me after, I will let you know next…!
